undergraduate students I have mentored
Sophia D’Onofrio is a junior at Virginia Tech from Westchester, New York. She is pursuing a biochemistry degree and hopes to attend pharmacy school upon graduation. Outside of school, Sophia enjoys painting, traveling, and playing tennis.
Sophia started working with me in Fall 2025.
Micah Hodge is a Senior at Virginia Tech from Mechanicsville, Virginia. She is pursuing a degree in biochemistry. Her career goal is to go into infectious disease pharmacology. Outside of classes, Micah likes to learn about art history, snowboard, travel, and cook with friends.
Micah started working with me in Fall 2025.
Ray Kennedy worked with me as an REU student at MLBS in 2025.
Isabell Lee is a biochemistry student originally from Fairfax, VA. She would like to go to dental school after completing her undergraduate degree. Outside of academics, she loves to volunteer, watch movies, cook, travel, play volleyball and pickleball.
Isabell started working with me in Fall 2025 and is comentored by Shajaesza Diggs, MS.
I mentored Gia in Spring 2025, while she was a senior-year biochemistry student at Virginia Tech. She is now a PhD student in NC State University’s Molecular & Structural Biochemistry graduate program, researching the role of UDP-glucose-6-dehydrogenase (UGDH) in cancer. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, cooking/baking, and spending time with her friends and family.
